Meet Our Interim Head of School

With unanimity and gratitude,The Harbor School Board of Trustees has selected Ms. Andrea Zuraf as our Interim Head of School.

Andrea has held teaching and leadership positions at The Harbor School for 17 years, most recently as the Assistant Head of School and Director of Admissions. Ms. Zuraf led the school’s two-year effort to remap the curriculum, working closely with the Head of School and the faculty. She played a central role in the school’s most recent reaccreditation with the Association of Independent Maryland and DC Schools (AIMS). She has also served as a key member of the Admissions Committee, where she assisted in planning and facilitating prospective student visits and evaluating children for admission to the School.


Ms. Zuraf has taught a range of grades at The Harbor School, most recently as the lead teacher of the second grade graduating class, leveraging her extensive training in cutting edge teaching strategies such as Responsive Classroom and mindfulness.

Ms. Zuraf holds a Master of Arts in Teaching at the elementary level from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Maryland. She is also well-known to the Harbor community as mom to Calvin, our famous furry staff member.

Andrea’s longstanding relationships at The Harbor School, and her deep knowledge of what makes Harbor so special and important to our children and our community, make her uniquely suited to lead the school through this transition.
