Dear Harbor Community,

We write with an update on our search for a new home for The Harbor School in the summer of 2020.

Since the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, our Board of Trustees and Facilities Search Committee have worked to envision a space to best serve our inquiry-based, differentiated program at Harbor. In the fall, we conducted a survey of our current and alumni community that has helped guide our search process. The following are major points from the survey we wanted to share with you:

The majority of our current community (parents and teachers) reported that a radius within six miles from our current location would be acceptable.

All placed great importance on natural lighting, an indoor gym space, a library, and an outdoor playground. Another priority for faculty was having sufficient storage space.

Survey comments provided ideas and leads for possible properties or connections to support our search, particularly from our alumni.

Our search committee has explored a variety of different scenarios for Harbor’s new home and is considering multiple properties and opportunities. Though we are not able to make an announcement at this time, please be assured that we are committed to determining the best space for our unique program.
