Our Specialty

Early childhood education has been our specialty since we opened our doors in 1973. Serving the DC metropolitan area, our program has always and only focused on educating young children. Our preschool is open to children two years old and up, and our elementary program extends through third grade.

Our Campus

The Harbor School is located in a beautiful facility on the grounds of Congregation Har Shalom on Falls Road in Potomac, Maryland. The school occupies an educational building providing well-equipped teaching space for our homeroom classes and specialist classes. In addition, we have access to community gathering spaces, expansive grounds, and a 35,000 square foot modern playground. The Harbor School is not affiliated with the synagogue.

Our Head of School

Our Head of School, Leah Musico's experience with integrated design thinking and inquiry-based interdisciplinary programs, coupled with her natural ability to lead and mentor faculty as well as collaborate with parents, establish her as an exceptional Head of School for Harbor.

Our Faculty

Our dynamic faculty includes classroom teachers and specialists in art, music, Spanish, and physical education. Fifty two percent of our teachers have advanced degrees, and each classroom is led by experienced and caring teachers. Our low student-teacher ratio enables our faculty to identify, adapt, and respond to our students’ diverse learning styles.

Student Body
The Harbor School has an open admission policy. We welcome students regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or physical disability in the administration of our educational policies, admission policies, and school-administered programs.

Harbor School students come from all over the Washington, DC area. We enjoy our diverse student body; approximately thirty percent of our students are either African-American, Asian-American, Latino-Hispanic, Middle Eastern or multi-racial.
