Our Specialty

Early childhood education has been our specialty since we opened our doors 45 years ago. Serving the DC metropolitan area, our program has always and only focused on educating children from Preschool (age 3) through 2nd Grade (age 8).

Our Campus

The Harbor School is located in a beautiful facility on the grounds of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church on Bradley Boulevard. The school occupies a two-story educational building providing well-equipped teaching space for our homeroom classes and specialist classes. In addition, we have a 7,000-book library, full-size gymnasium, performance stage and outdoor playground. The Harbor School is not affiliated with the Church.

Our Interim Head of School

We are so fortunate that Andrea Zuraf has agreed to serve as the Interim Head of School. Ms. Zuraf was previously the Assistant Head of School and Director of Admissions. She has been a senior faculty member at Harbor for 17 years.

Our Faculty

Our dynamic faculty includes 21 full and part time teachers, including specialists in art, music, Spanish, physical education, and library sciences. Fifty two percent of our teachers have advanced degrees, and each classroom is led by two experienced and caring teachers. Our 6:1 student-teacher ratio enables our faculty to identify, adapt, and respond to our students’ diverse learning styles.

Student Body
The Harbor School has an open admission policy. We welcome students regardless of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or physical disability in the administration of our educational policies, admission policies, and school-administered programs.

Harbor School students come from all over the Washington, DC area. We enjoy our diverse student body; approximately thirty percent of our students are either African-American, Asian-American, Latino-Hispanic, Middle Eastern or multi-racial.

Harbor Highlights
Our weekly newsletter, Harbor Highlights, is sent home from school and includes The Harbor Blog with information about upcoming events, and announcements.

We provide mid-morning snacks for all students. Parents may pack student lunches or purchase hot lunches provided by Harbor’s Parents Association. The Harbor School is a NUT-FREE school.

We are particularly sensitive to allergies and ensure that all staff and teachers are aware of special dietary restrictions in each classroom.
