SPRING BREAK!
March 18, 2021

Dear Harbor Families,

Spring break brings a time to rest, rejuvenate, and reset, and this year, it has never been more important after a VERY long winter! With the first warm days upon us, the feeling of renewal that spring brings every year is amplified with the increase in vaccinated individuals and infection rates trending downward. It feels a little easier to breathe these days.

However, despite the temptation - as health officials have been telling us - this is not the time to let our guards down. Please continue to be vigilant with your practices as we all continue to work together to keep our Harbor community safe and healthy. Although our travel policy (below) remains in effect, please let us know of your plans if they are low/no risk - particularly if you are visiting with vaccinated individuals or are vaccinated yourself - so we can assess if an exception is merited.

As you look ahead to (yet another) week with your kids, keep in mind that this time is meant to be rejuvenating - and take the time to get outside, play, and take part in the joy of childhood (which is still very much alive!). If you have any extra time after that, here are a few other tasks to take care of during the break:

  1. Sign up for Camp Harbor! Early registration closes on March 31st, soon after the break, so now is the time to take care of this planning. This year, we are chunking our camp dates into three longer sessions to support our cohorting model and safety practices. The kids will have a blast exploring the themes with fun, interactive activities and traditions such as weekly talent shows and dance parties! Email Camp Director Seth Fangboner with any questions!
  2. Give to the Annual Fund! The faculty and staff AND Board of Trustees have reached 100% participation in the fund, which says a lot about our community! Please help us get to 100% parent participation; any amount makes a difference in supporting and enhancing your child’s learning and shows that our community is truly committed! Give with your credit card on our website, send a check, or Venmo us @The-Harbor-School.
  3. Sign up for the Talent Show! Harbor’s Got Talent is a beloved yearly Harbor tradition each spring. Kids can perform any talent - we’ve seen science experiments, balloon bopping, soccer demonstrations, and puppet shows, in addition to dance, singing, and playing instruments. Harbor students are welcome to perform solo or with siblings or family members! And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the event - Thursday, April 8th at 6:30 PM on Zoom.
  4. And if you still have time, feel free to use any of these online resources, vetted by our teachers, to read, write, make, code, move, and more!

I wish you a wonderful Spring Break and look forward to a terrific spring (and summer) at Harbor!

Warmly,

Leah Musico
