REFLECTIONS FROM MR. BELL (HEAD OF SCHOOL FOR THE DAY)
May 6, 2021

Dear Harbor Families,

I write this letter in my role as the Assistant to the Head of School. Second grader Liam Bell took over my responsibilities for the day yesterday. It sure was nice having a day off. :)

After conducting health screenings at the carline, Mr. Bell met with our support teachers to work out the rainy day recess schedule, heard an idea for a student-run school newspaper from one of our second grade students, and emailed the teachers with some updates about the day.  And the day didn’t slow down from there! Among other responsibilities, he approved and signed the teachers’ paychecks (the outside of the sealed envelope, that is), planned and led our all school morning meeting, and walked around the building to thank the teachers and announce that there would be no homework! He even supervised our weekly COVID testing - a first among this long-standing auction item and Harbor tradition!

I asked Liam to reflect on the day and he made these comments: His favorite part ? “Recess.” What was hard? “There was a lot of work to do!” What made him feel good? “Telling the teachers that they are doing a good job.”

Sounds about right!

Psst... If you are interested in this experience for your child, it will be available for bidding at our upcoming auction. See below for details!

Warmly,

WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS NOW FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR.Email for a Tour!
