NEVER A DULL MOMENT!
April 28, 2022

Dear Harbor Families,

Not surprisingly, there’s a lot going on at Harbor these days! We are excited to see many of you at tonight’s A Toast to Harbor event, and it’s been fun to watch the bidding ramp up in our virtual auction as tonight’s 9:30 PM close time approaches! Even if you aren't able to join us at the event tonight, we hope you enjoy bidding on an exciting array of items and experiences for you and your children!

Tomorrow, we’ll all probably be a little more tired than usual, but it certainly won’t be a reason to slow down! We’ll be getting ready for next week, when our re-accreditation visiting team will be joining us on campus on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to interview teachers, administrators, trustees, and members of the Parents Association, to visit classrooms, and to spend time diving deeply into all 146 pages of our self-study report. This visit marks the culmination of a year-long self-study process, and our visiting colleagues will help to focus us further on our next steps for continuous growth and improvement as a school. After the visit, we will receive a written report which will identify strengths and growth areas and help us to set the path forward for strategic planning. For a reminder about the full process, here’s a document we’ve shared at different points throughout the year to help educate families about this important process as a school. We look forward to sharing more about the visit experience, and the visiting team’s initial impressions following the visit in next week’s  Harbor Highlights, so stay tuned!

It’s never a dull moment around here! After next week’s visit, we’ll turn our attention to planning for a new tradition, organized by our DEI committee - the Harbor Celebration of Culture! The May 20th event will feature student performances from around the world, an international art gallery, and a showcase of family culture projects, which will be sent home as a home assignment by your child’s teacher on May 9th. As part of our morning together, parents are also invited to share an activity, game, dance, read-aloud, presentation, or craft with our students - representing something about your family’s culture. Please let us know if you would be willing to offer a short experience - and mark your calendars for May 20th from 9:30 until 11:30 AM. Everyone is invited to what is sure to be a wonderful celebration!

We appreciate your engagement and participation in our school community, which makes a difference for the students’ education in so many ways!

Warmly,

Leah Musico
Head of School
