Dear Harbor Families,
There is a paper chain hanging in the school hallway which counts down the number of school days left, so students can visually process what’s to come. There are just eight links left on that chain! Along with the hot weather, the end of year seems to have come suddenly - and just this week, the energy in the building has shifted and it’s starting to sink in that the school year is soon coming to a close.
Teachers are writing report cards (which will be shared in mid-June) and are working on their end of year checklists. Grade levels are planning end of year celebrations, and students are wrapping up their final thematic units of the school year. Today, our third graders went on a field trip to Baltimore to reinstate a Harbor tradition of an on-the-water learning experience with Living Classrooms, and are preparing for their Moving On Ceremony on the 14th! And, we'll all come together on the evening of the last day of school for dinner and a movie with DC Party Box (scroll down for more information)! For everyone, it’s an exciting time of reflection, celebration, and of course, looking ahead to summer break.
As you look ahead and solidify your summer plans, please mark your calendars for the afternoon of July 14th for an opportunity to come together as a community for a picnic and some time together on our playground. Also, we do still have limited space at Camp Harbor - sign up for sessions online, and direct any questions to Camp Director Seth Fangboner.
Finally, if you haven't yet, please help us to reflect on the school year by completing our annual parent survey, facilitated by our Board of Trustees. This provides important information and informs future decisions and school administration. Thank you in advance for taking a few minutes to support the school in this way!
We look forward to the end of year festivities!
Warmly,
Leah Musico
Head of School
