Dear Harbor Families,

On Wednesday afternoon, you received an emailed invitation to purchase your tickets to A Toast to Harbor, the school’s annual auction event. We are already seeing registrations coming in and are so excited to come together for a special night to connect, socialize, and support the school that gives our children the gift of an excellent education in a small and warm community.

For those of you who may be new to this event, you are in for a treat! There are two parts to the experience, and we hope you can participate in both:

The Virtual Auction
Sunday, April 23rd at 6 PM until Thursday, April 27th at 9:30 PM

The Virtual Auction includes a number of donated items from businesses, such as restaurant gift cards, wellness services, family activities, and much more. Many of these are items that you might pay for anyway, so it makes sense to bid to support the school as well as the business. There are also themed class baskets (and thanks to you all for helping to create those for your grade level) and beautiful class art work which is being created in the classes now (thanks to our art teacher Lori Hurwitz for coordinating these projects!). Finally, there is a long list of unique Harbor experiences with the faculty and staff, such as hiking with Ms. Hinton and Sra. Vasquez, Head of School for the Day with Ms. Musico, and Indoor Rock Climbing with Ms. Chang, Ms. Harris, and Ms. Choi to name a few. These experiences are very popular and limited to a few students - so definitely a reason to log on to the auction website as soon as it opens on Sunday, April 23rd at 6 PM. We use an app called OneCause, which is the same platform where you can purchase your tickets for A Toast to Harbor, where you can manage your bidding, including receiving alerts if you have been outbid on items. It’s fun to participate and of course, is for a great cause!

A Toast to Harbor
Thursday, April 27th, 7-10 PM

Our annual auction event is an opportunity to come together and celebrate our school community! Line up a babysitter for Thursday, April 27th and plan to dress up a bit (if you are like Bill and me, we don’t have many opportunities for this, so it’s a big night out for us!). The event takes place in the beautiful Social Hall and the intimate outdoor patio at Har Shalom and includes a sushi dinner and an open bar. As it is the last night for bidding, auction items will be on display so you can determine via the app just how high you want to go on your bidding. :) Raffle tickets are on sale already (you can purchase them when you get your tickets for the event), and the winner will be chosen at the end of the evening. The evening is punctuated by a short program where we will hear from the Auction planning team, Raise our (Virtual) Paddles in support of experiential learning and programs, be reminded of the reasons we support our school, and - the namesake of the event - pop some champagne and raise a glass to our special school!
