Dear Harbor Families,
One of the greatest strengths of a Harbor education is the partnership we build together, between home and school and between parents, teachers, and specialists, in service of each child’s growth and well-being.
Over the years, I have seen time and again that student success is deeply influenced by the strength of this relationship. When teachers and parents are in close communication - sharing observations, asking questions, and working together with a shared understanding of a child - students feel supported in a way that is powerful and lasting. They know that the important adults in their lives are connected, aligned, and invested in their journey of learning and growth.
While our teachers are always available and eager to connect, there is something especially meaningful about setting aside dedicated time to come together in person. Parent teacher conferences offer that opportunity - space to pause, reflect, and engage in thoughtful conversation about your child’s experience at school.
Our spring conferences will take place in person at school on Friday, April 17, and we warmly encourage all families to sign up using the links provided.
During your conference, teachers will share student work samples and assessments, offering a window into your child’s learning. You will see not only the growth your child has made, but also the areas where they continue to develop—academically, socially, and emotionally. These conversations are rich with insight and intention, and they help ensure that we are moving forward together with clarity and purpose.
As we did in the fall, some of our specials teachers will also be available for conferences, offering an opportunity to connect about your child’s experiences across the full breadth of our program. In addition, I will have conference times available for any families who would like to connect, whether to share reflections, ask questions, or simply be in conversation about anything that may be on your mind.
In support of families joining us for conferences, we will once again offer in-school childcare for Harbor students and Harbor-aged children during your scheduled time. We understand the many demands on your time and are grateful for the commitment it takes to come in person. We believe deeply in the value of these moments together; they strengthen our partnership and make a real difference for each child.
Thank you for the trust you place in us and for the partnership you bring to your child’s education each day. We look forward to these important conversations and to continuing our shared work in nurturing confident, kind, and capable learners.
Warmly,
Leah Musico
Head of School
