Dear Harbor Families,
Spring has sprung, and like all seasons at Harbor, there is a lot going on!
As always, be sure to mark your calendars for exciting upcoming events such as parent teacher conferences next week (don’t forget to sign up for your spot to talk with your child’s teachers!) and the Celebration of Culture next month! One such event is our Used Book Fair - which dovetails with so many of our goals, beliefs, and curriculum at Harbor.
During the week of April 20th, we’ll be selling used children’s books from your home libraries, to support the school! It’s an opportunity to do some spring cleaning and go through your child’s bookshelves, with the knowledge that the special books that you enjoyed as a family - that your child might be growing out of - will go to a good home and will be loved again! Not coincidentally, we have scheduled this event for the week of Earth Day, which is fitting given that we will be teaching students the importance of reusing resources. On Wednesday, April 22nd (Earth Day), we invite you to send in some cash with your child to school so they can shop the sale, which will be run by our third graders! (Books will range between $2-$4 each, so a ten or twenty will do.)
On that Friday morning, April 24th , we hope you will join us for a final opportunity to shop the book sale (with coffee and breakfast treats). Following a morning reception, our third graders will be performing a self-written and self-directed (with the help of our music teacher Ms. Wilson) play called “Johnny, It’s Time to Go to School!". We welcome all families, and third grade especially, to join us for the performance.
Now, go ahead and tackle those bookshelves with your child—it’s the perfect time for a refresh!
Warmly,
Leah Musico
Head of School
