LET’S GO FOR THE GOAL!
November 7, 2019

Dear Harbor Families,

Yesterday afternoon,  members of our development committee had an envelope stuffing party in my office.  (We really know how to party at Harbor!) Included in each envelope is information about giving to the annual Harbor Fund, along with a beautiful, newly designed Harbor car sticker. I know most of you have probably stopped reading to run out to your mailbox to check for yours, but if you are still with me, here are the two main take-aways from the mailing that will arrive soon to a mailbox near you:

100%

As a community, we have moved the needle on our parent giving from 45% in 2015 to an impressive 91% last year! Striving for 100% participation in the Fund is not just about bragging rights; it’s an indication to future funders that our community believes in and is committed to our mission, and can result in grant awards, gifts from corporations, and other independent donors. In the coming year, we intend on approaching outside organizations and donors for funds associated with our upcoming facilities move and 100% parent participation would provide great benefits in our endeavors.

$40,000

You may not know that tuition at independent schools doesn’t cover the cost of a child’s education. The difference is often made up of several revenue streams, such as enrichment and extended day services, parent association fundraisers, and the annual auction. The annual fund (what we call the Harbor Fund) closes the gap in the budget. This year’s goal of $40,000 provides your children enriching experiences such as assemblies and field trips, technology, and our makerspace. Last year, we celebrated meeting our goal at Betsy Seery’s retirement party; what a celebration that was!

This year, we hope to celebrate meeting our two goals on February 6, 2020 - Spiral Night. Our theme this year is Sports and Games, so let’s knock it out of the park!

Warm regards,

Leah Musico
