REPORT CARDS
January 23, 2025

Dear Harbor Families,

This past weekend was a very Harbor weekend for me! In addition to dancing with some of you at the Dance-a-Thon for our MLK Day of Service, I spent hours reading report card comments. Every year when I tackle this task, it strikes me that if I am spending so much time reading the carefully crafted comments, it is clear the teachers are putting in incredible effort and time, often outside of work hours, to write them.

Though I’ll admit it was tiring on my eyes, it was a true joy to read each comment! The teachers have described each of your children with clear and descriptive language, highlighting unique strengths and areas of growth. It is striking - but not surprising - how evident it is through their writing just how well the teachers know and care about their students.

When you receive your child’s report card tomorrow, in addition to these detailed, personalized comments, you will find a long list of indicators describing your child’s performance compared to grade level expectations in the academic, social/emotional, and physical areas of development. These provide a high degree of detail about our curriculum, and whether students are meeting them, exceeding them, or progressing with support.

I hope you will take the time to read the report card carefully, and talk to your child about it over the weekend!

Warmly,

Leah Musico
Head of School
