Dear Harbor Families,

I know you have been hearing a lot about our annual Gala and auction for this year, which, thanks to a generous donation from a Harbor family, will be held at the Diamond Club at Nationals Park. In the fall, I had the chance to visit the stadium and see the space, along with Auction Co-Chairs Lindsay Miniaci and Nicole Moore. Admittedly, although I do love the experience of going to a Nats game, I don’t follow any team sports and am not much of a "sports person" (but talk to me about musical theater!). Even so, I found it to be truly breathtaking - being in the stadium without a game going on.

The PNC Diamond Club is situated directly above home base and has an incredible view of the stadium; it was exciting to imagine Harbor families celebrating our wonderful community, and supporting our students, in such an amazing space which will be all ours for the evening! One of the things I’m most excited about is having our Harbor logo displayed on the stadium’s big screen. Imagine the selfies we’ll take! As a small school, we are coming to the big leagues! 

The auction committee, with leadership from Nicole and Lindsay, has been busy! Volunteers have been active with soliciting donations and business sponsorships. Room parents are collecting items for class baskets. Students are working on class artwork, and teachers are planning to offer special experiences as part of the auction. The catering menu is finalized - and will be delicious - and of course, there will be an open bar! (Parking will be available on site, although you are encouraged to take a ride share service if you are partaking.)

We need your help to ensure a wonderful evening and successful fundraiser for Harbor. Funds raised go directly to supporting the students’ educational experience, so we appreciate your support!

• If you haven’t yet, please get your Grand Slam Gala tickets now! There is also an opportunity to sponsor a teacher's ticket if you are so inclined!

• Look for an email from your class’ room parent about class baskets, and if you are able to donate an additional item or two, the auction committee would be so grateful. You can donate on the auction website, or email hsfa@theharborschool.org.

• If you own or lead a business, or know someone who does, we are still looking for a few sponsorships. Information can be found here.

We can’t wait for an incredible night celebrating and supporting our special school and community!

A few other quick reminders… After the wonderful Valentine’s parties in classes today, there is still space in the Valentine’s family yoga this afternoon at 4:30, so feel free to show up and we can get you registered. We have plenty of mats - just bring yourselves and your kids! Next week, we look forward to seeing everyone for Spiral Night next Thursday evening at 6 PM. We hope you will join us Friday, February 21, for a special Family Friday: Coffee and Connections, with the DEI consultant who is working with our faculty and staff during tomorrow’s professional day. Ashley Nartey will lead a discussion on neurodiversity for parents. Finally, please remember that re-enrollment is due next Friday!
