A (FAKE) HARBOR POEM
April 3, 2025

Dear Harbor Families,

This week, between catching up after the spring break and the shorter week, I had less time to write my weekly letter to you all. So I took to ChatGPT and asked for a poem about the Harbor mission. I’m still getting used to the fact that this technology exists, so I have to admit it still kind of freaks me out to see what it can do.

Just now, it felt strange to write the words “freaks me out” in a letter to the community, so I asked ChatGPT to write it in a more professional way. Here’s what it came up with:

I find AI tools like ChatGPT both fascinating and a bit unsettling. The speed and accuracy with which they generate responses are impressive, but the way they mimic human thought can feel uncanny at times. While I appreciate their usefulness, I remain mindful of the balance between technology and human insight.

My thoughts exactly (or are they?).

One of my professional goals this year is to further explore the complex nature of AI and how it intersects with early childhood education. I look forward to talking with anyone interested in this topic at our final Coffee and Connections of the school year on May 9th.

In the meantime, enjoy the below AI-generated poem!

Warmly,

Leah Musico

HARBOR POEM

At Harbor School, by sea and sky,
Each child is seen, each heart can fly.
We learn, we laugh, we grow so free,
Embracing all in unity.

No voice too soft, no dream too small,
We lift each other—one, yet all.
With kindness bright and spirits true,
We celebrate the me and you.

With hearts so open, minds so free,
We learn through play and curiosity.
Confident, kind, and full of cheer,
We find our voices, bold and clear.

The Harbor way, both strong and kind,
A place for heart, for soul, for mind.
A school where love and learning rule,
Forever home—The Harbor School.
